- President Michael R. Lovell shared that “an on-campus academic and cocurricular experience is foundational to a transformative Catholic, Jesuit education at Marquette” in a letter to the Marquette community announcing plans to return to an in-person academic and residential campus experience for our students this fall. - “You can’t empathize with somebody else if you’re not looking at them in a human way,” says Mahmood Watkins. “You can’t empathize with people who’ve been incarcerated, or are incarcerated, if you’re not looking at them as human beings.” (See full story below)
- Local leaders came together in early March to talk about equity and justice in public health. The discussion was part of a series of community conversations hosted by Marquette . Panelists talked about responding to the public health crisis while also advancing equity and justice through community engagement. (See full story below)
- Biz Times Milwaukee featured the university’s plans to break ground for its new home for Marquette Business and innovation leadership programs. “This marks a defining, historical moment for Marquette,” president Michael Lovell said. “Our new facility will serve as a major catalyst to grow the pipeline of future Catholic, Jesuit-educated business leaders for years to come. - Jasmine Hernandez graduated from Marquette’s nursing program last May in the middle of the pandemic. She’s now a nurse at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. “I was looking forward to graduation from the moment I stepped on campus,” Hernandez said. “That was just a huge milestone, not only for me but for my parents. They’ve made so, so many sacrifices for me.” (See full story below).
